Aarti of Hanuman Ji – Aarti Kije Hanuman Lala ki

Deeper Meaning behind the Aarti of Hanuman Ji?

The Aarti of Hanuman Ji embodies the highest ideas of courage, purity and surrender. Each verse carries layers of wisdom that go beyond the literal retelling of Hanuman Ji’s heroic deeds mentioned in the Ramayana. It also describes Hanuman’s power, his strength rooted in devotion and humility, as well as his selfless service. The lyrics of “Aarti kije Hanuman lala ki” invites us to look inward, awaken our inner strength and connect with the divine through faith, courage and selfless seva, just like Hanuman. The Deeper meaning behind its verses is discussed below:

Hanuman as the destroyer of negativity

The Aarti of Hanuman Ji repeatedly refers to him as the destroyer of negativity, whether it’s physical, mental or spiritual. It also states that diseases and doshas cannot even come near his devotees, highlighting that Hanuman’s protective energy shields the mind from fear and the heart from sorrow.

Hanuman not only defeats outer demons as he did in Lanka, but also inner demons, such as doubts, insecurities, weakness and all other emotions that mentally weaken one and make them doubt themselves.

Hanuman's Seva Bhav and Devotion

When we understand the Aarti of Hanuman Ji, the lyrics of “Aarti kije hanuman lala ki” reveal that Hanuman’s greatest power is in his devotion to Lord Rama. His every Act, whether it’s crossing oceans or entering Patallok, is an expression of his selfless service to Rama. He embodies Seva Bhava.

One incident from Hanuman’s life, although not mentioned in Aarti, also tells us that once Sage Vishwamitra felt insulted by Hanuman and asked Lord Rama to sentence him to death. Rama, bound by duty, couldn’t refuse his Guru and order Hanuman’s execution by his arrows. Hanuman Ji simply continuously chanted the name of Lord Rama. To everyone’s surprise, not even a single arrow, including the most powerful Brahmastra, could touch Hanuman Ji.

His life stories teach us that true bhakti lies not in words or complex rituals but in surrender and service.

Symbolism Hidden Within the Stories

Hanuman Ji’s life story sets the ultimate path for a devotee on how they should live and conduct their life. On his path, Hanuman also faced fear, self-doubt, despair, and uncertainty, but at each step, with wisdom and his devotion to Lord Rama helped him overcome them all. Hanuman’s actions are not just stories of the past but rather ongoing lessons for every devotee’s life. Just like Hanuman, one should walk the path of life with pure wisdom and sincerity, and every act should be offered as a humble service to the divine. Hanuman gently guides the devotee to surrender the ego, remember Shri Ram, and live with a spirit of service.

Hanuman as the Bridge to the Divine

The Aarti of Hanuman Ji repeatedly shows that Hanuman is the link between the devotee and Lord Rama. Throughout the verses, he appears not only as a warrior or a protector but as the messenger who carries our prayers to Lord Rama. In Ramayana, every action he performs has only one motive: to serve Lord Rama and uphold Dharma.

Traditionally, it is said that one can not attain the blessings of Lord Rama without worshipping Hanuman Ji first, and the only way to impress Hanuman is by the sincere chanting of the “Raam Naam.” No rituals or offerings please him more than the remembrance of his beloved Lord. He then acts as a spiritual guide for his devotees, guiding them towards the divine. Even in Ramcharitmanas, Tulsidas ji received the heavenly vision (darshan) of Lord Rama and Lakshmana only after receiving the specific guidance and blessings of Hanuman Ji.

Hanuman, as a spiritual guide, uplifts, protects and leads devotees on the path of righteousness.

The Inner Message in the Aarti of Hanuman Ji:

At its core, the Hanuman Aarti not only praises the deeds of Lord Hanuman but also serves as a guide for the spiritual seeker. It urges the devotee to cultivate courage, purity, devotion and humility. It inspires devotees to overcome their inner darkness, serve selflessly and walk the path of truth and dharma just like Hanuman Ji. His life becomes a guiding light, reminding us that the divine strength we admire in him also exists within us and is waiting to be awakened through faith and surrender.

Know more about Hanuman Ji

Here are some common questions people often ask about Hanuman Ji after reading the Aarti of Hanuman Ji:

Hanuman saved Lakshman by bringing him the Sanjivi Booti, as Indrajeet's Nagpash arrow had severely wounded him. Though when he reached the Dronagiri Parvat, he couldn't find the herb, so he lifted the entire Dronagiri Mountain and brought it to Lanka, where the herb was applied, and Lakshman was revived.

Later, Hanuman returned the mountain peak to its original place in the Himalayas. This incident not only shows his immense power and strength but also his loyalty and dedication.

Hanuman's Gada is called Kaumodaki. Hanuman Ji always holds it in his left hand, which is why he is also known as Vamahasta-Gadayuktam, meaning the one who carries the Gada in his left hand.

Maruti Nandan means 'Son of Marut,' another name for the deity Vayu Dev. According to the Valmiki Ramayana and the Ramcharitmanas, Hanuman is the son of Vayu, as Vayu played a divine role in Hanuman's birth by blessing Anjana with his energy, making Vayu Hanuman's spiritual father. Hanuman Chalisa and the Shiv Purana also refer to him as the avatar of Lord Shiva.

The name Maruti also highlights Hanuman's extraordinary speed and power, along with the ability to control Vayu or wind.

Hanuman Ji covered himself with Sindoor out of his devotion to Lord Rama and Mata Sita. Once Hanuman Ji saw Sita Mata applying sindoor, upon asking why, she told Hanuman that applying sindoor ensures the long life and well-being of her Swami, Lord Rama. To express his deep devotion, Hanuman covered his entire body with Sindoor, believing that it would bring greater protection and long life to Lord Rama.

Impressed by Hanuman's devotion, Lord Rama blessed him, saying that whoever offers sindoor to Hanuman with faith will receive strength, protection and blessings.

This act of Hanuman also represents the Sewa Bhav he embodies: his pure and selfless service, demonstrating that true devotion requires only sincerity and surrender.

Yes, it is widely believed that reciting the Hanuman Chalisa can have miraculous effects. Although it's not a miracle-performing object, its power lies in the devotion, faith and intention with which it is recited. The Hanuman Chalisa strengthens the mind, removes fear, and aligns one with Hanuman's qualities of strength, devotion and unwavering focus.

Hanuman means one with a disfigured jaw, where “Hanu” means jaw and “Man” means disfigured. It is said that once baby Hanuman leapt toward the sun to eat it, thinking it was a fruit. To stop him, Indra struck him with his Vajra (thunderbolt), making Hanuman unconscious, which made him fall to the ground.

Yes, Hanuman, being a Chiranjivi (immortal), is still present on earth in Kaliyuga, and is believed to reside on the Gandhamadana mountains, meditating upon Lord Rama. It is believed that Hanuman vowed to stay on Earth as long as the Name of Lord Rama is chanted on Earth. Some saints and devotees have also claimed to have had sacred encounters with him in forests, mountains or during deep meditation.
