श्री राधे वुषभानुजा भक्तनि प्राणाधार ।
वृन्दावन विपिन विहारिणी प्रणवों बारम्बार ।
जैसौ तैसो रावरौ कृष्ण प्रिया सुखधाम ।
चरण शरण निज दीजिये सुन्दर सुखद ललाम ।

जय वृषभानु कुँवरी श्री श्यामा।कीरति नंदिनी शोभा धामा ।
नित्य बिहारिनी श्याम अधारा।अमित मोद मंगल दातारा ।

रास विलासिनी रस विस्तारिणी।सहचरी सुभग यूथ मन भावनि ।
नित्य किशोरी राधा गोरी । श्याम प्राणधन आती जिय भोरी ।

करुणा सागर हिय उमंगिनी।ललितादिक सखियन की संगिनी ।
दिनकर कन्या कूल बिहारिनी।कृष्ण प्राण प्रिय हिय हुलसावनी ।

नित्य श्याम तुमरौ गुण गावें ।राधा राधा कही हरषावें ।
मुरली में नित नाम उचारें । तुव कारण प्रिया वृषभानु दुलारी ।

नवल किशोरी अति छवि धामा।ध्युति लधु लगै कोटि रति कामा ।

गोरांगी शशि निंदक बढ़ना। सुभग चपल अनियारे नयना ।
जावक युत युग पंकज चरना। नुपुर धुनी प्रीतम मन हरना ।

संतत सहचरी सेवा करहिं।महा मोद मंगल मन भरहीं ।
रसिकन जीवन प्राण अधारा। राधा नाम सकल सुख सारा ।

अगम अगोचर नित्य स्वरूपा।ध्यान धरत निशिदिन ब्रज भूपा ।
उपजेउ जासु अंश गुण खानी।कोटिन उमा राम ब्रह्मिनी ।

नित्य धाम गोलोक विहारिन । जन रक्षक दुःख दोष नसावनि ।
शिव अज मुनि सनकादिक नारद। पार न पायें शेष अरु शारद ।

राधा शुभ गुण रूप उजारी। निरखि प्रसन्न होत बनवारी ।
ब्रज जीवन धन राधा रानी। महिमा अमित न जाय बखानी ।

प्रीतम संग देई गलबाँही । बिहरत नित वृन्दावन माँहि ।
राधा कृष्ण कृष्ण कहैं राधा। एक रूप दोउ प्रीति अगाधा ।

श्री राधा मोहन मन हरनी। जन सुख दायक प्रफुलित बदनी ।
कोटिक रूप धरे नंद नंदा। दर्श करन हित गोकुल चंदा ।

रास केलि करी तुम्हें रिझावें। मान करौ जब अति दुःख पावें ।
प्रफुलित होत दर्श जब पावें।विविध भांति नित विनय सुनावे ।

वृन्दारण्य विहारिनी श्यामा।नाम लेत पूरण सब कामा ।
कोटिन यज्ञ तपस्या करहु।विविध नेम व्रत हिय में धरहु ।

तऊ न श्याम भक्तहिं अपनावें।जब लगी राधा नाम न गावें ।
वृन्दाविपिन स्वामिनी राधा।लीला बपु तब अमित अगाधा ।

स्वयं कृष्ण पावै नहीं पारा।और तुम्हैं को जानन हारा ।
श्री राधा रस प्रीति अभेदा।सादर गान करत नित वेदा ।

राधा त्यागी कृष्ण को भेजिहैं ।ते सपनेहूं जग जलधि न तरिहैं ।
कीरति कुँवरि लाड़िली राधा।सुमिरत सकल मिटहिं भव बाधा ।

नाम अमंगल मूल नसावन। त्रिविध ताप हर हरी मनभावन ।
राधा नाम लेइ जो कोई। सहजहि दामोदर बस होई॥

राधा नाम परम सुखदाई। भजतहीं कृपा करहिं यदुराई ।
यशुमति नंदन पीछे फिरेहै । जी कोऊ राधा नाम सुमिरिहैं ।

रास विहारिनी श्यामा प्यारी। करहु कृपा बरसाने वारी ।
वृन्दावन है शरण तिहारौ । जय जय जय वृषभानु दुलारी ।

Best Time to Recite Radha Chalisa

Daily Morning & Evenings: Radha Chalisa can be recited every morning and evening, when the surroundings are calm and the heart is naturally more receptive. A peaceful mind allows the sweetness of Radha’s name to settle deeply within.

During Sharad Purnima & Radhashtami: These days hold special significance for Radha Rani. Reciting the chalisa on Radhashtami, the day she appeared on earth or on Sharad Purnima, the night of divine Raas Leela, is believed to bring powerful spiritual blessings.

After Recitation: After completing the Radha Chalia, it is ideal to recite the Radha-Krishna aarti or repeat “Radhe Radhe,” as it allows the divine vibrations to linger in minds and homes.

The Deeper Meaning of Radha Chalisa

The Radha Chalisa is a heartfelt prayer that draws the devotee into the gentle and divine presence of Shri Radha Rani, the queen of Vrindavan and the beloved of Lord Krishna. The Radha Chalisa not only praises her divine form but also her compassion, sweetness and eternal love. The verses describe her as the force behind Krishna’s joy, the healer of sorrows, and the source of devotion that leads every soul towards divine union. She is remembered as Vrishabhanu Nandani, the beloved daughter of King Vrishabhanu. Her grace softens every hardship and whose name alone fills the heart with peace, purity and inner awakening.

The Radha Tattva: Why Radha’s Name Is Essential

In the Radha Chalisa, a line appears stating “Tahoo na Shyam bhaktahin apnavain, jab lagi Radha naam na gavain.” This verse states that Krishna doesn’t accept any devotee unless they first take refuge in Radha’s name. Radha tattva teaches that Radha is not separate from Krishna; they are one soul, yet she stands as the mediator between the devotee and Krishna. It is a popular belief in Vrindavan that whenever a devotee chants the name Radha, Lord Krishna himself visits them, because he is a devotee of Shree Radha himself. Chanting the Radha naam softens the heart, melts ego and purifies the longing to meet the divine. The Chalisa reminds us that Radha is the source of devotion, and approaching Krishna without her is like seeking the sun without light.

Radha’s Beauty described in Radha Chalisa:

The Chalisa describes Radha Rani’s beauty through the language of rasalella. She is called Nitya Kishori, the eternal youthful goddess whose radiance never fades. She is also called Raas Vilasini, the enchantress who brings life to raas leela, where divine love dances in its purest form. Her beauty expresses innocence, joy, longing and grace flowing together like a melody that cannot be contained in words. When the Chalisa praises her charm, it’s not only her physical beauty but also the spiritual beauty of a soul completely surrendered to the divine.

Radha’s Influence Over Krishna:

Radha Rani Chalisa also talks about the influence she has over Krishna. One of the various ideas conveyed throughout the chalisa is also that Krishna’s flute continually murmurs her name. This suggests that the music that enchants the entire creation comes from remembrance of Radha. Her love guides his smile, shapes his lilas and every other divine act he performs.

Krishna becomes most accessible to his devotees when they reach out through Radha because she is his hladini Shakti, the emotion behind his compassion and his mercy. When the chalisa describes Radha as the one who captivates Krishna’s heart, it tells us that turning to her brings the devotee closer to the very centre of Krishna’s being. In loving Radha, the devotee learns how to love Krishna with purity, softness and complete surrender.

Radha Rani’s glance, called kataksha, is not just an ordinary look. In spiritual belief, her glance is filled with divine love and mercy. Radha Rani appeared as a divine child on a lotus in the Yamuna River. King Vrishabhanu discovered her and brought her home to his wife, Kirtida. They raised her as their daughter. This divine event is celebrated every year as Radha Ashtami, marking the birthday of Radha Rani. The verses of the Radha Chalisa also beautifully praise the greatness of her birth and divine childhood.

Radha Rani's birthplace is the village of Rawal, located on the northern bank of the Yamuna River in the Mahavan tehsil of Mathura district, about 50 kilometres from Barsana, where Radha Rani grew up.

Yes, according to the Brahma Vaivarta Purana, Radha and Krishna got married in a divine Gadharva ceremony in Bhandivran, under a pair of huge banyan trees, with Lord Brahma as the witness. In present times, the place is known as Radha Krishna Vivah Sthali in Bhandirvan, a sacred forest within the Mant tehsil of Mathura district, about 10-12 km away from Vrindavan.

When Radha Rani was born, her eyes remained closed. Her parents, Vrishabhanu and Kirtida, were worried. But Radha was not an ordinary child. It is said she chose to open her eyes only when she first saw Shri Krishna. Later, when Nanda Baba brought little Krishna to meet her, Radha opened her eyes for the first time. Her first sight in this world was Krishna himself. This showed that her life and love are always connected to him.

Barsana is known as the birthplace of Radha Rani. It is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for her devotees. According to the Radha Chalisa, Barsana has a special meaning in Radha’s divine stories with Krishna.

The Radha Rani Temple in Barsana has two key stages in its history. It is thought that the original temple was built around 5,000 years ago by King Vajranabh, the great-grandson of Shri Krishna. However, that temple eventually fell into ruins. Later, in 1675 AD, Raja Veer Singh Dev built the current temple at Barsana. The idols of Radha Rani were rediscovered by Saint Narayan Bhatt, a disciple of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, and were then placed in this temple.

Yes, according to some non-Vaishnava texts such as the Devi Mahabhagwat Purana and the Radha Tantra, Lord Shiva took the form of Radha Rani. Their natures also share striking similarities, such as being infinitely compassionate, both are addressed lovingly as Bhole by their devotees, and both embody pure and unconditional grace. However, Vaishnav traditions do not suggest the same; they consider Radha Rani as Mahalakshmi, the creator and the original source of all divine shaktis.
